01 Who we are
DigiGaan ("we", "us") develops and publishes the DigiGaan app and is the data controller for the information described below. For any question or request about your data, contact us at digigaan@gmail.com.
02 Summary
DigiGaan collects only what it needs to sign you in, sync your favorite and recent songs across your devices, recognise which devices you are signed in on, keep the app from crashing, and show ads. We do not sell your personal information. You can sign in and out freely, and you can ask us to delete your account and synced data at any time.
03 Information we collect
3.1 Google account information (only if you sign in)
Signing in is optional — the app is usable without an account. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive the following from Google through Firebase Authentication:
- Your email address
- Your display name and profile picture, if your Google profile has them
- A Google account identifier, used to link your device to your synced library
We never receive your Google password. Google Sign-In handles authentication entirely; DigiGaan only receives the profile fields listed above.
3.2 Your library content
When you are signed in, we store and sync the songs you mark as favorites and the songs you have recently played, together with the time they were added or played. This is stored against your account in Firebase so it is available on any device you sign in to. If you are not signed in, this information stays on your device and is not sent to us.
3.3 Devices signed in to your account
When you sign in, we record the model name of the device you signed in on (for example "Pixel 7" or "iPhone 14"), together with the operating system version and the time of sign-in. We use this only to recognise how many devices are signed in to your account, so the app can manage sessions and show you where your library is syncing. This record is tied to your account and is removed when you sign out of that device or delete your account.
We do not use it for advertising or profiling, and it does not identify you beyond the account you are already signed in to.
3.4 Crash and diagnostic data
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics to report crashes and errors. A crash report includes the device model, operating system version, app version, the state of the app at the time of the crash, and a stack trace. It also includes a Crashlytics installation identifier so repeated crashes from the same install can be grouped.
3.5 Usage analytics
The app uses Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate — for example which screens are opened, how often the app is launched, and general app performance. This is collected against a resettable app instance identifier, along with device model, operating system, app version, coarse region, and language.
3.6 Advertising data
DigiGaan shows ads through Google AdMob, which also mediates demand from Meta Audience Network. To select, cap, and measure ads, these partners may process:
- Your device's resettable advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS)
- IP address and the approximate region derived from it
- Device and app information, and ad interaction events such as impressions and clicks
We do not collect precise GPS location, and the app does not request location permission.
3.7 What we do not collect
Other than what is described above, we collect nothing. Specifically, we do not collect your phone number, contacts, photos, microphone or camera input, precise location, health data, SMS or call logs, or payment card details.
04 How we use information
| Data | Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Google account profile | Authenticate you and identify your library | Performance of a contract |
| Favorites and recent songs | Sync your library across your devices | Performance of a contract |
| Device model and sign-in time | Identify the devices signed in to your account and manage sessions | Performance of a contract |
| Crash and diagnostic data | Find and fix crashes and defects | Legitimate interests |
| Usage analytics | Understand feature use and improve the app | Consent, or legitimate interests where consent is not required |
| Advertising data | Serve, cap, and measure ads | Consent for personalized ads; legitimate interests for non-personalized ads |
05 Advertising and your choices
Ads in DigiGaan are served by Google AdMob, which uses mediation to also source ads from Meta Audience Network. Each partner processes data under its own privacy policy:
- Google / AdMob — how Google uses data from apps that use its services
- Meta Audience Network — Meta Privacy Policy and Meta Audience Network terms
Turning off personalized ads. On Android, open Settings → Google → Ads and turn on "Opt out of Ads Personalization", or reset your advertising ID. On iOS, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and turn off tracking for DigiGaan. You will still see ads, but they will not be personalized.
Our authorized sellers are declared publicly at digigaan.github.io/app-ads.txt, in line with the IAB Tech Lab app-ads.txt standard.

07 Data retention
- Account and library data — kept while your account exists, and deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
- Signed-in device records — kept while that device stays signed in, and removed when you sign out of it or delete your account.
- Crash reports — retained by Crashlytics for up to 90 days.
- Analytics data — retained in aggregate for up to 14 months.
- Support emails — kept as long as needed to resolve your request.
08 Deleting your account and data
You can sign out at any time from the app's settings, which stops syncing on that device.
To delete your account and everything synced with it, use the self-service page at digigaan.github.io/delete-account.html. Sign in with your Google account there and your profile, favorites, recent songs, and signed-in device records are removed immediately.
You can also email digigaan@gmail.com from the Google account address you signed in with, with the subject "Delete my account". We will complete the deletion within 30 days and confirm by email.
Anonymous crash reports and aggregate analytics are not linked to your account and cannot be removed individually; they expire on the schedule in section 7.
09 Children's privacy
DigiGaan is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10 Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a portable copy of it, object to or restrict its processing, and withdraw consent for personalized advertising or analytics. To exercise any of these rights, email digigaan@gmail.com. We respond within 30 days.
If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
11 Security
Data in transit between the app and Firebase is encrypted with TLS, and data at rest in Firebase is encrypted by Google. Access to account data is restricted by Firebase security rules so that you can only read and write your own library. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12 International transfers
Firebase, AdMob, and Meta Audience Network process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, those transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the other safeguards described in the providers' own privacy policies.
13 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version. Material changes will be announced in the app or through the app store listing before they take effect.
